Iceland has many natural wonders and many places you can visit and enjoy. Although some of our natural wonders like Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir hot spring have gained popularity among visitors, there are still many peaceful and exciting places that people rarely visit. Places that are not as accessible and require more effort to visit. Places that you can only visit during summer due to road conditions or because they are in the Highland. To visit Iceland and enjoy the peaceful and spectacular nature takes preparation if you don't want to be part of mass tourism or a large crowd. If so you might want to take time to plan your trip and study the places to visit. Find the best way to enjoy your tour. Of the many alternatives is to take a hike.

Hiking has many advantages

When you travel at a slow pace through the landscape, you are experiencing a whole new ballgame. The enjoyment is related to many factors, from planning to the point where you finish your hike. The preparation and finding places to visit. The gear and what you need to walk through a challenging terrain. Finding the right tent, backpack, food, and cloth for your hike if it involves overnighting. The physical preparation to gain fitness and strength. The places you plan to see and enjoy in the Icelandic nature. One such place is the mountain Sveinstindur in the above video that has one of the most spectacular views in Iceland.

What is the reward of getting to the top?

When you walk up to a mountain like Sveinstindur located near the popular Highland Road Nyrðri Fjallabak you are in for a treat. At the top, you have a spectacular view of a significant portion of the Icelandic highland. On your way up you start to see more and more of mountains, lava, glaciers, lakes, and rivers. If you are lucky and find yourself on a calm and clear day, you are in for a once in a lifetime experience. And there are many places you can hike in Iceland. One of the most exciting places is Landmannalaugar, also near the Nyrðri Fjallabak Highland Road. Although famous as a starting point for the famous Laugavegur hiking trail it is also a place that has many spectacular hiking trails with panoramic views. Another one is Þórsmörk, and yet another one is Jökulsárgljúfur. We could go on and on, and the list is long. Hiking when in Iceland is without a doubt one of the most exciting ways to travel around the country.
