Finding the Northern Lights Adventure in Iceland
Iceland is one of the best places on the planet to see the Northern Lights. This tour will take you to see this spectacular phenomenon near Reykjavík. We bring you away from the city lights to a place where the likelihood of a spotting Aurora Borealis increases even further. The destination varies, of course, depending on cloud cover, clear skies, aurora strength and likelihood of a sighting. Visitors should be aware that although the tour endeavors to show the northern lights to as many of our guests as possible, seeing them is not guaranteed. In winter weather always plays a large part in Iceland.
Here is your chance to have a once in a lifetime experience. You will be picked up from your hotel, guesthouse or designated bus stop and head out to experience something truly exceptional. We drive to a convenient place away from the city lights in the evening. The tour is approximately four-hour long, and we head out into the dark and cold night in our super trucks that are specially modified for the wild Icelandic terrain.
We drive to a spot depending on where the lights take us, even on mountain roads, in our search for the best locations to view this fabulous display dancing in the sky in a symphony of magical colors and shapes. As soon as we see a glimpse of Aurora Borealis, we stop for photos and a professional photographer takes your picture with the Northern lights in the background, giving you a lasting memory of your experience, and we’ll have warm chocolate milk to keep you warm during the chilly tour.
If we aren’t successful in finding the magnificent display in the night right away we drive on to good locations our drivers have found to be successful in our bid to track them down. When the lights start, this phenomenal display of colors, varying from greenish yellow to beautiful shades of blue, red, pink, purple and white, is a sight you will never forget.
