Iceland celebrated new year's eve the traditional way, with one of the largest and most spectacular fireworks show on the planet. This is what Icelanders do every year. Everyone at every home in the country shoots some firework into the air or at least lights a torch. This is a long tradition in addition to the many bonfires around most towns and villages. Almost every household in the country spends a considerable amount to purchase fireworks from the local rescue squad. This is the primary source of income for the operation of our very important Icelandic Rescue Squad.
