Yesterday Iceland elected a new president.  After the final deadline to announce a candidacy, with the requirement to have a list of at least 1,500 supporters, on May 21st, nine candidates competed.   Three to four candidates were considered to have a break for the job, and five that most Icelanders thought would not have a chance, which became apparent in the elections.

Garðabær is one of the most affluent towns in Iceland and has quite often had the highest income per Family compared to other municipals.  Population in 2016 was 14.717, so it is also one of the larger municipalities in Iceland.
