In a ravine in Skaftafell Iceland leading up to the beautiful waterfall, Svartifoss, is this small house. It looks like a house that belongs to an elf family although the electric post and the connection to the house indicate that it is of earthly nature. To our knowledge, no one lives in the house. Icelanders have many tales and folklores about elves, trolls, ghosts, monsters and all kinds of strange creatures. Some of those creatures are kind and good natured while others are unkind and even cruel. Most of the folklores have a connection to certain places and are an important ingredient in the national character. As Icelanders, we are almost certain that elves live in this ravine, hiding from trolls that live in caves in the mountain. There is at least one folklore about a troll in Skaftafell, a female troll that befriended the farmer a few centuries ago. The troll lived to be at least 140 years old, and the friendship supposedly was quite beneficial to both of them.
