Although often regarded as a suburb of Reykjavík, Hafnafjörður does indeed behave more like a small town. Its small centre has a variety of cafés, small shops, restaurants and bars. Hafnafjörður is a perfect place to stay at for a night or two to experience a calm, local and residential are in Iceland without being in the busy center of Reykjavík. Taking a walk around you will find the old harbor, beautiful and well taken-care-off houses, swimming pools and a very interesting cultural house called Hafnarborg − The Hafnarfjörður Centre of Culture and Fine Art. Here is a classic picture of a residential street in late autumn.
